The Class of 2027 will be holding a bake sale in the opera house during "Twas Just before Christmas" on Saturday, December 14 from 4:00-7:00 pm. Come support the class and take home some delicious baked goods!

Football Playoffs The Newport Tigers finished the regular season as the fifth seed with a 5-3 record and will travel Saturday, November 9 to Gilford to face the fourth-seeded Golden Eagles in the quarterfinals of the Division III football playoffs at 1:00 PM.

Varsity Field Hockey: Division III Preliminary Round No. 9 Newport 1, No. 8 St. Thomas 0, OT Ninth-seeded Newport got a goal in overtime from Maddox Lovely to outlast eighth-seeded St. Thomas 1-0 October 24 in overtime. The game was tense throughout with the Tigers controlling large portions of the game in both penalty corners and shots on goal. Bree Robertson posted the shutout making a couple key saves in the fourth quarter and in overtime. The Tigers got the game winner in the latter stages of the extra session as Taylor Fellows and Lovely worked a nifty give-and-go with Lovely converting a feed from Fellows. Newport will now play at top-seeded Gilford October 27 in the quarterfinals at 2:00 p.m.

High School Sports Recaps Tuesday, October 15 Varsity Girls Soccer: Inter-Lakes 1, Newport 0 The Tigers lost a well-played game at Inter-Lakes 1-0 October 15. The game was tied 0-0 at the half before the Lakers managed the game-winner in the second half. Glory Parker was outstanding in goal for Newport with outstanding defensive support from Jesenya Santana. Varsity Field Hockey: Hopkinton 4, Newport 2 Newport dominated possession and shots with many opportunities to score, but fell at Hopkinton 4-2 October 15. Maddox Lovely answered Hopkinton goals to tie the game 2-2 in the second half, but the Hawks came out on top. Taylor Fellows was strong at midfield while Hanna Fellows and Jazmyn McNamara also played well. Thursday, October 17 Varsity Golf: Tigers compete at Division IV golf championship Carter White and Zach Meyette represented the Tigers at the Division IV golf state finals October 17 at Keene Country Club. Both had strong rounds, but did not make the cut for Saturday’s Division III individual championship. Mascenic was the state champion in the team competition, while Gorham was runner-up. Varsity Field Hockey: Newport 8, Monadnock 0 It was a successful Senior Day for the Tigers as nine seniors played their final game and got a big win over Monadnock 8-0 October 17 at Veterans Field. Senior Maddox Lovely scored a pair of goals, while fellow seniors Erica Sayer, Peyton Blackinton, Jasmyne Lee and Taylor Fellows also scored. Senior Jazmyn McNamara was solid in the middle, while senior Natasha Carpenter was strong on her free hits. Senior goalie Bree Robertson posted another shutout with defensive help from senior Katy Janicke. Newport will most likely play on the road October 24 in the preliminary round of the Division III tournament.

High School Sports Recaps Friday, October 11 Varsity Football: Newport 34, Fall Mountain 0 Newport improved to 4-1 in Division III with a victory over Fall Mountain 34-0 October 11 at Hubbard Field. The Tigers rolled out to a 22-0 halftime lead over the Wildcats and cruised in the second half. Newport scored in the first half on a Tyson DiPaola 17-yard run, Amelio Urista four-yard run and an Aaron Fellows to Aidan Couitt 23-yard scoring toss. DiPaola caught the conversion pass after his score and Fellows called his own number to convert after the Urista touchdown. Newport put the game away in the third quarter as Wesley Wheeler and Fellows both scored on one-yard runs. Varsity Cross Country: Newport Places at CVC Finals The Newport boys finished in fifth place at the CVC Finals October 11 at the Cheshire Fairgrounds. Hanover was the winner edging Keene for the title. Michael Bohn ran a personal best time of 18:48 to lead the Tigers in thirty-fifth place. He was followed by Bryce Palmer in fiftieth, John Wilkinson in fifty-fourth, Max Huot in sixty-fifth, Kellan Zullo in sixty-ninth, Bentley Waterman in seventy-second and Lukas Pitta seventy-third.

High School Sports Recaps Thursday, October 3 Varsity Girls Soccer: Kearsarge 6, Newport 0 Kearsarge beat the visiting Newport Tigers 6-0 October 3 in Division III girls soccer. The Tigers played hard, but had trouble putting any offense together against the Cougars. Skylar Nelson had a solid game for Newport at wing and forward, while Bella Medbery worked hard up front and Lela Trott was strong on defense in front of goalie Glory Parker. JV Boys Soccer: Newport 5, Franklin 3 Newport picked up a big win at Franklin 5-3 Oct0ber 3. The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Golden Tornadoes before holding them off for the victory. Newport possessed the ball for long periods of time in Franklin territory. Carson Almstrom led Newport with a hat trick while John Wilkinson added a pair of goals. Owen Beard, Bryce Palmer, Wilkinson and Almstrom all had assists. Jayden Godwin made ten saves in goal for Newport to pick up the win.
