Traffic Advisory for Sunday, May 31 DIII Track Meet
Please see below an important message regarding anticipated traffic on Sunday, May 31 that may impact teams as they arrive for their DIII Outdoor Track Divisional Meet at Pelham High School.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: 5K Road Race This Sunday (May 31)
Residents and commuters, please be advised that a 5K Road Race is scheduled for this Sunday, May 31, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM.
Expect delays and temporary traffic disruptions in the center of town. If you are not attending the event, we strongly recommend seeking alternate routes and avoiding the area during race hours.
Affected Areas & Rolling Closures
To ensure the safety of our runners and volunteers, rolling road closures will be in effect starting just before 9:00 AM on the following streets:
-Windham Road
-Brookview Drive
-Nashua Road
-Tenney Road
What to Expect:
Rolling Closures: Roads will close as the pack of runners approaches and will reopen safely once the final participants and tail vehicles clear the area.
Police & Volunteers: Detail officers and course marshals will be stationed at key intersections to direct traffic. Please follow their instructions.
Timing: Traffic should return to its normal pattern by late morning once the race concludes.
Plan Ahead: If you need to travel through the center of town on Sunday morning, please leave early and expect delays. Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and for helping us keep our community safe!

Newport School Board Announcement
The Newport School Board is pleased to announce that our new Interim Superintendent, Robert Wargo, will officially begin his role with the Newport School District on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Mr. Wargo will begin remotely but will be fully available to staff, families, and community members by phone and email as he transitions into his new position.
The Board is excited to welcome Mr. Wargo to our district. We greatly appreciate his dedication and willingness to step into this role a month earlier than originally anticipated in order to support our schools, staff, students, and community during this transition.
We look forward to working together as we move forward in a positive direction for the Newport School District.

The Newport School Board announces today that Interim Superintendent Forrest Ransdell will be on leave for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year. To ensure continuity in District leadership, current Business Administrator Kate O’Connor will serve as the Interim Senior Education Official for the District, and incoming Interim Superintendent, Robert Wargo will begin transition to his new role prior to his official start date on July 1st.
The Board appreciates the dedication of District leadership and our staff during this period and remains committed to supporting students, families, and employees throughout the remainder of the school year. We are eager to work with Interim Superintendent Wargo as we begin this next chapter and create a positive path forward.
