Every February, Newport transforms into a true winter wonderland during its beloved Winter Carnival. This year’s theme, Red, White, & BRRR, adds a patriotic twist to the festivities with a nod to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, New Hampshire style. Visitors can enjoy classic winter fun, from horse-drawn wagon rides and ice sculpting demonstrations to a winter carnival pageant and plenty of star-spangled surprises along the way. The celebration kicks off with a parade, followed by the ceremonial torch lighting, setting the stage for family-friendly fun and small-town charm. Now in its 110th year, Newport’s Winter Carnival proudly holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously running winter carnival in the country, a tradition that continues to honor community spirit while celebrating the magic of a New Hampshire winter.
