We'll have fun family math games, and a 50/50 cash raffle to benefit our Grade 5 Outdoor Classroom trip. The 100 Day Art Projects will be on display in the Main Lobby for everyone to enjoy. Every February, Newport transforms into a true winter wonderland during its beloved Winter Carnival. This year’s theme, Red, White, & BRRR, adds a patriotic twist to the festivities with a nod to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, New Hampshire style. Visitors can enjoy classic winter fun, from horse-drawn wagon rides and ice sculpting demonstrations to a winter carnival pageant and plenty of star-spangled surprises along the way. The celebration kicks off with a parade, followed by the ceremonial torch lighting, setting the stage for family-friendly fun and small-town charm. Now in its 110th year, Newport’s Winter Carnival proudly holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously running winter carnival in the country, a tradition that continues to honor community spirit while celebrating the magic of a New Hampshire winter.

On Friday, January 30, 2026 the Newport Middle School presented the ROAR Award recipients for the months' of November and December 2025.
The ROAR Awards are awarded for outstanding achievement in the areas of --- Respect - Ownership - Academic Excellence - Responsibility

We are honored to announce the following November and December Student Awards:

RESPECT Awards went to Lucille Rowell, Sasha Sieczkarski, Douglas Desilets, Valarie Logan, Xavier Collins, Riley Meyers.
OWNERSHIP Awards went to Maddie Collins, Wyatt Florence, Jordan Severance, Sophia Runnells, Alexia Gonyea, Kora Marie-Griffeth.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Awards went to Eva Sullivan, Jacob Montroy, Connor Boulton, Lydia Bailey, Ashlynn Paquette, Chloe Cmar.

The Knights of Columbus are holding a free throw championship at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 13 at the LaValley Family Community Center as part of the Winter Carnival schedule. It's open to girls and boys from ages nine to fourteen. Each student gets fifteen shots, and whoever gets the most in each age/gender group wins and gets invited to the state championship held in Manchester in March.

To provide time for both our partners in the town of Newport and our District staff to complete the clean up after this long duration storm, the Newport School District will operate on a 2hr delay for Tuesday January, 27th.

Newport Middle and High School and Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Richards Elementary School will begin at 10:15 a.m.
Thank you to the Newport Highway Dept and the Newport District Maintenance and Custodial Staff for all of their hard work to keep us safe.

Due to the inclement weather predicted for Monday 1/26/26 all Newport School District facilities will be closed for 1/26. All after school activities are cancelled. Please stay safe and warm and we thank those who keep our streets and road open and who make our buildings safe to return to.

The girls varsity home game against Hinsdale at 2:30 PM and the boys varsity home game against Hinsdale at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 24 have been postponed to a date to be determined because Hinsdale can’t travel in the cold weather.

The varsity girls game at Campbell on Monday, January 26 has been postponed and will now be played at Campbell Wednesday, January 28 at 6:00 PM due to the impending snowstorm.

Home middle school basketball games against Winchester on Monday, January 26 are postponed. Makeup date TBD.
