Richards Elementary School, Newport Middle and High Schools and the Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center will open two hours delayed today, Friday March 6.

Newport Middle and High School and the SRVRTC will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Richards Elementary School will begin at 10:15 a.m.

Middle School and High School youth aged students are invited to attend the Halfway to Halloween Dance & Haunt on March 13, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Newport Recreation Center.

There will be snacks, music, prizes for costumes, games, silent disco & dancing (optional), and photo booth (optional).

Costumes are optional but encouraged!

This is event is sponsored by West Central Behavioral Health.

Halfway to Halloween Dance

The Newport School District will cancel all afterschool and evening activities for students today, March 3, 2026. The Board Meeting scheduled for 6:00 p.m WILL take place at the Tech Center to discuss Middle School, Technology, and Facilities.

The National Weather Service is calling for a significant snowfall beginning at about 12:00 on Friday (tomorrow) The timing of the storm is calling for significant snowfall to begin during the 12:00 hour. With a 1-2 inch per hour snowfall rate possible the Newport School District will use an early release for FRIDAY 2/202/6 to ensure transport of students and staff safely home.
